A Retro 2d side-scroller Adventure Inspired by Megaman & Gunstar Heroes

A loveletter to 90s and 80's gaming

Pete the Pest Exterminator is Shrunk to the size of a bug by Mad Scientist Dr Dronenburg. Jump, Blast and dodge your way through 3 levels and 3 bosses as you conquer Dronenburg’s mansion in this bitesize, side scrolling retro adventure with gameplay inspired by 80’s & 90’s videogames such as Megaman, Contra and Gunstar Heroes. 

(This game was made from scratch in 3 weeks for the 2021 Git hub game off)

Controls :

Move Right =  D 

 Move Left   =  A

Jump =               W

Shoot (In facing direction) = SPACEBAR

Levels :

1. Garden
2. Slugworth (Boss)
3. Kitchen
4. B0tfly (Boss)
5. Bedroom / Attic
6. Dr Dronenburg (Boss)

*The music in the game is minimal  to simulate the feeling of playing oldchool consoles like Atari, with the only sounds being the haunting simple retro sound effects which give us all that warm familiar feeling of nostalgia.

This is our first ever game jam ( Started 1 week late) and first finished game created with the Unity engine. 

I (@Charlesthedev) created the Art, Game Design and programming

My brother (@Bhamjo) Created the narrative & dialogue. we did all of this in under 3 weeks.
