A shallow dive into the depravities of materialism

(This game was made for Brackeys game jam 2022 in 1 week)

STORY

Sid the Magpie was constantly picked on and bullied by his old classmates growing up, belittling and ridiculing the poor bird, and showing off all their fancy new shiny things. Sid without a penny to his name and from a poor family just wanted to join in and have some friends. They laughed at poor Sid, laughed at his shabby clothes, old toys, his harmless demeanour! He handed the man an olive branch and they knocked it out of his hands, perhaps they’ll respond better to REVENGE! TAKE EVERYTHING!

Years later Sid is ready on his quest for revenge! Using some skills he picked up in a con-mans handy-book, you will show them who will have the shiniest things at the end of the day!

A smart fraudster is a good fraudster! Make sure NOT to take more than you need to on deliciously deceptive despoiling of bank accounts. The longer you steal, the higher your police meter rises. And I think you know what happens when it gets to the top. The bird will have to go back in the cage.

CLICK ON SID AGAIN TO ‘LAY LOW’! Stopping the flow of cash into your account, and letting The police detection meter fall down. Whilst waiting for your police detection to go down, why don't you hop on over to the shop to

BUY BUY BUY!!

use some of that hard-earned dirty cash to procure yourself an array of oddities and antiquities such as ‘PLANT’! Wow, impressive stuff! COLLECT YOU GREEDY LITTLE BIRD!

Make sure you try and collect all the shiny things at the shop, I mean what else are you going to do with your money! Each item is interact-able to keep your bird brain occupied during down time!

*for the game we used a very minimalist approach to the art style as well as the gameplay to showcase how very surface-level materialism is and how there is nothing there behind it other than how you may want other people to see you. Which is the case for our little bird friend here*
